- Official Baseball Rules FAQ : A good introduction to some of the basics of baseball rules. Again, Little League rules vary from OBR.

For the 2009 season every Crazy 8 (coach pitch), Minor, Coast, Major Baseball and Softball team must recruit at least two (2) volunteer Umpires and make sure they attend the league-sponsored training sessions, as detailed below. In addition, prior to officiating any SVNLL sanctioned games, all new and returning Umpires must be re-certified every year. In order to make our children's baseball experience a more positive one, and to allow parents to enjoy the games that their son or daughter is playing in, Umpires will ideally not be umpiring games for their own teams. SVNLL will schedule games such that Umpires can assist at games not in conflict with their own games. Any questions should be directed to the UIC (uic@svnll.org).
Requirements
All new Umpires must successfully complete both sessions of classroom work and the Basic Mechanics class.Returning Umpires must attend one classroom class and one mechanics class - preferably the second classroom session and the Advanced Mechanics class.
In order to Umpire any Little League game sanctioned by SVNLL all new or returning Umpires must satisfy the attendance requirements.
If any team has more than two volunteers, please have them all attend the training sessions. Applications will be available at that time.
It is our goal to make the Umpiring experience a positive one and to fully support all our Umpires. The UIC & Board for SVNLL is working with the District 9 Umpiring liaison to ensure that you have strong support from all levels of involvement.
If you have any questions or need further clarification, send an email to uic@svnll.org
Thank you,
Colin Scott -Umpire in Chief, SVNLL
